The more time Lykke Li spends in the limelight, the further away she seems to get from the shy and lovelorn girl she was on her breakthrough hit. Because, indeed, Troy Von Balthazar looks okay. He’s handsome. He grew up in Hawaii. He surfed there for a long time. In the 90’s, he was the leader of a loud and abrasive band, Chokebore, becoming cult the day Kurt Cobain picked them to open for Nirvana. He also lived with Leonard Cohen – his only admitted admiration – who took him in for a while and on whose guitar he composed his first solo songs. His album came out in 2005 aptly named “Troy Von Balthazar” and was noticed by the critics and the European public. That’s because this man is keen on weaving enchanting pop songs.

Vampire Weekend - Horchata (live in Jakarta)

i should say it's one of the best international gigs in Jakarta for 2010 that i attend (which is not much).
Played about 2 hours (or one hour, lost my time orientation) set full of energy and familiar songs to singalong.

The only regret was that i missed the Horchata booth. :(

The Sunshine Factory

I'm a sucker for the noises from dream pop/shoegaze band.
Even if most of them have almost similar background "discovering My Bloody Valentine", and off course every band said that they're adding something to reinvigorates the genres which mostly not so easy to define since we have a lot of noises.
The only way to differentiate bands in this genre are to listening each one of them deeply and passionate, and yet still sometimes still not that easy, especially for a fresh new band like The Sunshine Factory.
But as i wrote earlier, "i'm a sucker for noises"
